The photograph shows a long column of civilians leading through Mirowski Square next to the destroyed Hala Mirowska. The systematic displacement of the population of Warsaw began on August 6, 1944. The Germans kicked the inhabitants out of their houses and basements, directed them to assembly points, and then to the Western Railway Station or other stations. Most of them were sent to the Dulag 121 transit camp in Pruszków, where selection was carried out. Some people were deported to forced labor in the Reich, some to concentration camps, others were dispersed around the towns of the General Government. The Dulag 121 Museum publishes the frame as "a column of refugees at the Mirowska hall." Authorship and exact date remain unconfirmed.
