Historical context
What do we know about this scene
At Dąbrowskiego Square, just before the capitulation, Wiesław Chrzanowski "Wiesław" photographed six people from the "Anna" company of the "Gustaw" Battalion. From the left standing: Cpl. Jerzy Sikorski "Sixton", Cpl. Kazimierz Dąb "Kazik", nurse Henryka Wieczorek "Heniuta", second lieutenant Henryk Ożarek "Henio", corporal Tadeusz Przybyłowski "Roma" and Cpl. cadet Antoni Dobraczyński "Hel". "Sixton" holds the "Rzeczpospolita Polska" newspaper with information about the capitulation negotiations. The photograph was taken around September 30 or October 1–2, 1944. On the night of October 2-3, an agreement on the cessation of hostilities was signed in Ożarów. This is a documented portrait before the surrender, but calling it the "last photo" remains conjecture.
